Iowa State University of Science and Technology has all the charm of a small-town campus with the perks of being located in a big city - Ames, Iowa. According to ISU’s website, the “Cyclones” name dates back to 1895. After a huge win for Iowa State, The Chicago Tribune wrote’ “Northwestern might as well have tried to play football with an Iowa cyclone as with the Iowa team it met yesterday." Iowa won 45-0 and the nickname stuck. The legacy of Cyclone Athletics was born.
