March 2022 Founder Message | For a change of scenery, travels took me to the ocean

 Dear Family and Friends,

February at Alumna House was fast and furious, and we have good news on our Fall Collection! 

Our designers finished samples of our new Tailgate Collection (raglan sweaters and zipper leggings), we held two lifestyle photoshoots, and we continued to create relationships with boutiques and bookstores all across the Midwest. 

And although February was cold and dreary in Omaha, I got a trip to Hawaii to visit my dear co-founder and niece, Carly, who is thriving in Maui. Carly and her sister went scuba diving (see image) and were able to see reef sharks, schools of fish, and a “turtle cleaning station” Apparently, turtles take turns being ‘cleaned’ by fish – like an “under the water med spa!”  🐢💅🤣

After Hawaii, I jetted back to the mainland to L.A. with Kristen, one of our designers. We toured print-on-demand manufacturers and fabric suppliers who can also cut and sew our collections.  And although we will continue to make our apparel in Omaha for the foreseeable future, finding suppliers that we can trust, who know the business, and who know what pain points to avoid is huge.  Fortunately, the leader of the tour and fashion business guide, Christine Daal, was able to introduce us to great people on the tour! 

All that to say, pre-orders for our Fall Collection open at the very end of March and we're hosting a POP UP EVENT at Fabulous Fashions Boutique in Omaha on Saturday, March 26th, from 11a-2p. I hope that you see  mimosas in your future, because that's what will be there, along with samples of our sweaters and leggings. 🍾🥂
