Pandemic Pause and Plans
Hello family and friends, We hope this finds all of you staying safe and healthy. To say that this year has been unsettling, unbelievable, and unreal seems like an understatement. Carly and I have had some interesting conversations about our luck (or lack thereof!) with starting a business only to have a pandemic hit three months into our launch. Holy crap!! (And yes I did just say that in an email. 😊 ) We are learning to be patient, and remember to keep everything in perspective. And because we have had time, we decided to take this “time-out” by reflecting...
Freedom for All
When Carly and I started this company, we spent a significant amount of time discussing how we will give back to the community. With the Fourth of July upon us, it is urgent to recognize the important work we have to do to make our country equitable, safe, and just for everyone, specifically for people of color. We want to share with you how we are accomplishing this – first, so we can be accountable to our mission and secondly, to hopefully inspire others to participate. See below for our update on our efforts: Colleges and universities require a portion...
World Herald Goodfellows Charities
Carly and I, like everyone else, have been saddened to see the impact of COVID-19 on our communities. And while we know most of the world has been in a ‘timeout’ the need for community support has not. So, we are excited to announce a limited edition “Timeout” men or women’s t-shirt. 20% of the gross sales will be donated to the World Herald Goodfellows Charities to help families in need. A friend of ours came up with “Timeout” (thank you, Peg!) and it is so appropriate. Although this year has been unreal, and at times, it doesn’t ever feel...
Mother's Day
Happy Mother’s Day!I hope all of you can celebrate with your loved ones - even if only on Zoom! To be completely honest, Mother's Day is bittersweet as I am sure it is for those of you that have lost loved ones. My mom has been gone 26 years and my mother-in-law 9 years. I miss them both but then I laugh when I remember certain things like when my mom would say, "If your friend jumped off a cliff, would you?" and "Stop crying or I'll give you something to cry about." She was tough, funny, loved to...
Perseverance
During this COVID-19 crisis, I think many of us may find it difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It helps to keep everything in perspective, keep a sense of humor, practice gratitude, and say lots of prayers. Also, I like reading about others who have persevered through other challenges. Danny Woodhead is a great reminder to not give up or give in. You can see the post about his experience on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/mygamedaycollections/photos/rpp.326542994850137/661491221355311/?type=3&theater Follow us on Facebook and Instagram and if you share ANY post you will be entered to win a gift...
Red Light...Green Light
When I was very young we used to play the game “red light-green light.“ But, did you ever wonder about the yellow light? (Those who know my driving habits would question whether I understand what the yellow light really means...) Well, due to COVID-19, we know that many people are worried about their health, their jobs and their families. And, for many of us that means not spending extra dollars especially if our favorite sporting events are cancelled. So Carly and I are going to hold our spring collection until next year so everyone has time to regroup. We will...
